Open ZIP File

Once you have downloaded Calculator++.zip, extract the Calculator++ directory along with the directories/folders and files within it to a directory/folder on your system.


Launch Calculator++

To launch Calculator++ from a graphical user interface (GUI), double-click Calculator++.jar.

To launch Calculator++ from a command line, open the Calculator++ directory/folder, then enter the following:


* On any system that uses Java 6 or later by default:

java -jar "Calculator++.jar"

Icon

"icon.ico" is an icon file which you can use for a shortcut or alias to Calculator++.jar on Windows.

"icon.png" is an icon file which you can use for the icon of a panel item or menu item for Calculator++.jar on Red Hat or CentOS.


Windows Shortcut

To use the icon for a Windows shortcut, do the following:
  1. Right-click Calculator++.jar, then select "Create Shortcut".
  2. Right-click the Calculator++.jar shortcut, then select "Properties".
  3. In the Shortcut tab, click the "Change Icon..." button.
  4. In the "Change Icon" dialog, click "Browse...".
  5. Select the "icon.ico" file, then click "Open".
  6. Click "OK".
  7. Select the "General" tab.
  8. Change "Calculator++.jar" to "Calculator++".
  9. Click "OK".
  10. Place or copy the shortcut to the Taskbar or to the Programs list in the Start menu. Likewise, place it on the Desktop for your convenience.

Red Hat/CentOS Panel

To add Calculator++ to a Red Hat/CentOS Panel, do the following:
  1. Right-click the Panel, then select "Add to Panel...".
  2. In the "Add to Panel" window, select "Custom Application Launcher", then click "Add".
  3. In the "Create Launcher" window, enter "Calculator++" for "Name", then enter "java -jar " followed by the full path to Calculator++.jar.
  4. Click the "No Icon" button.
  5. In the "Browse Icons" window, click "Browse...".
  6. Select the folder that contains the "icon.ico" file, then click "Open".
  7. Select the "icon.png" icon, then click "OK" in the "Browse Icons" window.
  8. Click "OK" in the "Create Launcher" window.
  9. Click "Close" in the "Add to Panel" window.
  10. All done!

Red Hat/CentOS Accessories Menu

To add Calculator++ to th Red Hat/CentOS Applications>Accessories menu, do the following:
  1. Right-click on the menus.
  2. In the "Menu Layout" window, select "Accessories" under "Applications" in the "Menus" tree list, then click "New Item".
  3. In the "Menu Item Properties" window, enter "Calculator++" for "Name", then enter "java -jar " followed by the full path to Calculator++.jar.
  4. Click the "No Icon" button.
  5. Select the "icon.png" icon in the "Calculator++" folder, then click "OK" in the "Choose an Icon" window.
  6. Click "OK" in the "Menu Item Properties" window.
  7. Click "Close" in the "Menu Layout" window.
  8. All done!

Mac OS X


Open ZIP File

Once you have downloaded Calculator++.app.zip, extract Calculator++.app to a folder on your system. We recommend extracting it to your Applications folder. Of course, it will run from any folder on your system, so long as you have "Read & Write" permissions to it. Just double-click on Calculator++.app.zip, and it will automatically extract.


Launch Calculator++

To launch Calculator++ from the Finder, double-click Calculator++.

To launch Calculator++ from a command line, open the Calculator++ folder, then enter the following:

* If your Mac is configured to use Java 6 or later by default (non-standard setup as of Mac OS X 10.5.7):

java -jar "Calculator++.jar"

* On a Mac OS X system that uses the default version of Java (Java 5):

/System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/1.6.0/Commands/java -jar Calculator++.jar
